As the COO, Mr. Smith is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of Contemporary Healthcare Capital, LLC. With more than two decades of structured finance experience,, Mr. Smith has spent the last 15 years building a specialty financing company that provides capital to healthcare companies throughout the United States. Eric serves as a principal in seven healthcare investment funds, three of which are SBIC funds. Throughout his career, Mr. Smith has invested in over 200 transactions representing over $555 million. He credits the success of his company to serving lower-middle market businesses that are typically underserved by credit markets. He became involved in his profession after structuring mortgage derivative securities for major Wall Street firms. He subsequently moved to investment banking and became involved in structuring debt and equity investments.

Mr. Smith received a master's degree in economics from New York University. He is a board member of the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies and board member of several portfolio companies. In 2010, he was named as SBIC of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
